Rss feeds allows get updates from subscribed sources, it's simple, it's lightweight on bandwidth and resources and allows to add some eye candy such as images.

For publishers many systems already implement this feature, example this news system (b3) and gitweb.

Brief makes reading RSS feeds as easy and intuitive as it gets. Designed to have exactly the right set of features, it is powerful and simple at the same time, it was added to firefox extensions list.

Once brief is installed to subscribe to relevant sources, check the pages for rss link, generally is orange. Gnu/Linux Crux page was updated with a list of RSS links to upstream ports collections. This allows to follow upstream development while surfing the web, is fast because is light weight without visiting upstream gitweb or pull on git.

A link for rss feed with articles published here is provided on news front page and each git repository on gitweb server provides a link for correspondent rss feed.
